Bachelor of Early Childhood Education
Course Information
3 trimesters per year
Full-time: normally 4 subjects per trimester
Part-time: normally 2 subjects per trimester
Students need to complete the following subjects:

In addition, students complete 120 days of professional placement across the degree in a range of settings for children 0-8 years of age in Singapore and other approved international sites as required.
1. Students who complete the degree and undertake as part of the degree a minimum of 41 days of placement in prescribed education placements in Australia will receive a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Education) and will be eligible to apply for registration as a teacher in Australia through recognition of completing an accredited course. Those who complete this fully accredited Australian program must undertake professional experience in Australia and are required to take the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) and meet the standards as a condition of graduation.
*Travel and living expenses in Australia will be at students’ own cost.
2. Students who complete the degree and who do not undertake 41 days of Professional Experience in Australia will receive a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education degree and will have to check on eligibility to apply for registration as a teacher in Australia on an individual basis.
3. Prior to graduation students must demonstrate an overall IELTS (or equivalent) score of 7.5 (with no score below 7 in any of the four skills areas, and a score of no less than 8 in speaking and listening) as required by the Queensland College of Teachers in order to be eligible to be a teacher in Queensland, Australia. The cost of testing will be met by applicant.
4. All students are required to attend a compulsory 5-day on-campus intensive Professional Orientation Program in their final year of study. This intensive program prepares you for your transition to teaching.
5. International students on a Student Pass will have to complete the professional experience subjects in countries other than Singapore.
International students holding a valid Student’s Pass are required to attend at least 90% of scheduled classes per month. Failure to attend classes is a breach of the student visa conditions. Being absent from classes for a continuous period of seven days or more, or attendance falling below 90% without valid reasons will result in the student needing to surrender their Student's Pass for cancellation.
Domestic students must attend at least 75% of the scheduled lecture and tutorial activities to be eligible for assessment.
Early Childhood Education is a specialized field of education that leads to leadership positions in kindergartens and preschools or teaching positions in international schools in Singapore, and teaching positions in schools, preschools, kindergartens and child care centres in Australia. The degree also qualifies you to teach in the UK, and New Zealand. Recognition of the qualification in other nations needs to be individually pursued.
